What we noticed last fall/winter as we met with buyers and customers alike was that everyone wanted something new to show and wear but with an eye toward updating not replacing their existing wardrobe. Vests were popular for us last season for that reason and we expect with this expanded collection, they will be popular again. There are few garments that are as fun to wear and versatile as the vest. A cashmere or alpaca vest can perform several roles in a wardrobe. This makes the vest indispensable as a stand alone, classy and casual, piece in warmer, fall/winter climates or another, slimming and stylish, layer in colder climates. The Outside Designworks vest collection is presented as three basic silhouettes, each embellished differently. What they have in common is the cashmere or alpaca base outer layer and the lining. The lining has been used not only to neaten the interior of the vest and make it more comfortable, but also to add a punch of color that coordinates with the collared blouses. The fitted and cropped zip front vest style has two layers of embellishment on the flat front welt pockets and high collar. These accents really take on a three-dimensional look and add interest to the garment. The curved lines of the double-breasted vest are soft and feminine. The curved seams give the impression of an hourglass silhouette, which is reinforced by the use of two complimentary fabrics. Each of the one-of-a-kind shawl collared vest shares the five base cashmere fabrics, two closures and the ten lining choices, but that is where it ends. Each of these vests is embellished with strips of fabric used as piping along the long shawl collar and appliqué down the back ending in a free floating tassel. A vest to suit every wardrobe and work on the body is the aim in this collection. We also want to remember that our customer may only be looking to accessorize their already existing wardrobe to make it more stylish and sophisticated for the upcoming season.

"Our generation still has more living to do," says Nancy Blaustein, 55 of Walnut Creek, California. "I'm not ready to wind down yet." Today's 45 and older crowd is far more likely to see the two or three decades ahead as a second life and Outside Designworks understands that notion. The Outside Designworks clothing line caters to a woman who understands quality and fit and wants classic pieces with ongoing appeal. Strong color, along with bold and refreshing prints dominate the line. This is especially true for the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The focus for Spring/Summer 2010 is on line and fabric, the simplest, most minimalist aspects of style. The rainwear collection, which is expanded each season but available year round, continues to be the pivotal item with strong graphics, clean brights and new this season, muted darks. A new item for Outside Designworks Spring/Summer 2010 is the smart, sheath dress and matching duster coat. This combination is practical in function, simple in form and presented in beautiful fabrics and arresting colors. From work to special occasions, the sheath is a look that has never really gone out of style. A body skimming dress in forgiving fabrics with just enough "give" and in heavy enough fabrics to flatter. The perfect details include seams that whittle the waist, a square neckline to minimize the bust and sleeves to balance out wider hips. Matching dusters for spring look new again. Because of their versatility and ability to work as easily over a pant as with a dress, they can be the staple category on which to build a merchant's Spring/Summer 2010 presentation. The dress coat coupled with the little black, fitted dress is a showstopper. This classic, raglan sleeve coat is a 3-season dress standby accented with one perfect black button at the neck. Calf length with a slight flare, paired over the magic little black dress, this is a spectacular look for holiday into spring. The Outside Designworks clothing line caters to a woman who understands quality and fit and wants classic pieces with ongoing appeal. Strong color, along with bold and refreshing prints dominate the rainwear line, while the sheath dresses and duster coats take a softer color approach. But the emphasis, no matter the season, is always timeless, feminine clothing with a cool and sexy edge. back to top
